Prize trophy for the winner

Competitions in pipe smoking may seem bizarre to some pipe smokers, but it's a tradition that has captivated countless Nicotinians even today. This trophy won at the pipe smoking championship in Sneek in 2012 is a testimony. While the cup shaped trophy has made way for a modern, almost sculptural approach, the aim of the smoking participants has not changed. They compete for the honorary title of champion langzeitrauchen, as the German is so eloquent in saying. After the competition pipe – equal for everyone – has been filled with three grams of tobacco, the starting signal is given. Each participant is given one minute to light his pipe, for which two matches are provided. After that, it is carefully smoking with as little fire as possible to win the title. The winner of that time was awarded this object after 2 hours and 36 minutes of smoking from the same pipe, with all the praise including a beautiful certificate. How amazing that after ten years of display in the prize cabinet of the winner, this award has now achieved museum status, together with the diploma.
