Pipe Industry around Saint-Omer

Local pipe enthusiast Olivier Martiaux published a monograph this month on the nineteenth-century clay pipe industry in the Saint-Omer region. For more than half a century, production in that town was dominated by two factories: Duméril and Fiolet. These two workshops are responsible for an incredible number of original pipe designs, now beloved by pipe collectors. Don Duco reviewed the new publication.
