Description:
Tobacco pipe made of clay with so-called doetelknoop bowl, without heel and straight stem with button end. Bowl left embossed between an oak branch and a laurel branch held together with a tied ribbon the bust of King William III in gala uniform with distinctions and sash, above a text ribbon with clipped ends on which "WILLEM III". Bowl right the inauguration ceremony in the Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) with the king standing under a canopy with one hand on the king's crown and the other raised for the oath. Stem left "ZILVERFEEST 12 MAY 1874" (silver party) and "GEHULDIGD 12 MAY 1849" (assigned). In the stem corner a spherical holder with a Stanhope glass in which the oval portrait of king William III with below "WILLEM III, KONING DER NEDERLANDEN". |
