Description:
Tobacco pipe made of earthenware, so-called chibouque with funnel-shaped bowl, round base without heel and straight stem widening into a stub. Bowl and stem incised with geometric decoration. Bowl internal small triangular lip. Bowl and stem polished and covered with gold leaf. Original mounting with pompon cuff ring and valve cover with pointed centrepiece with ball-crowning, clamping spring with ball, stem rim with stem holder and locking ring. |

Comments
Veilingcatalogus Mak van Waay, 1977, nr 2188 (afgebeeld). Het vergulde deksel werd in de antiekhandel vroeger aangeduid als pomponne, in de veronderstelling dat het een goudlegering was. Dit moet onjuist zijn, er is eerder sprake van verguld messing of brons. |
