Tobacco box of printed buffalo horn with oval shape with straight upright sides and flat bottom and lid. Cover inside profiled frame facing right equestrian portrait of Tsar Peter the Great in armor with laurel branch around his head, in his right hand a raised sword, on the ground some blooming flowers, more in the background a fleet of sailing ships.

Zie ook: P.A.S. Phillips, John Obrisset, London, 1931, nos. 69 & 70. Phillips beeldt twee voorbeelden van deze voorstelling af, degene toegeschreven aan Obrisset (ook in het British Museum), is ongesigneerd zoals onze doos, de tweede in de verzameling van de auteur is gesigneerd met de initialen van de penningmaker Simon Lambelet (sterft 1727) uit Brunswijk die ook in hoorn werkte.
Doos gemaakt ter herdenking van de stichting van het Russische leger.
