Description:
Tobacco pipe made of wood with a rectangular flattened model, at the top a cylindrical bowl made of brass, the end front pierced for a stem. Woodblock sawn from the butt of a rifle with undecorated ends, the sides flat in which are carved a fish head dominated by almond-shaped eyes, a mouth with teeth and gills at the stem side, a fin along the top, gills and a fin along the underside. Bowl drilled into the top in which a brass inner bowl with a cylindrical shape is secured with a piece of textile, the edge of the bowl opening is folded over. |

Cette magnifique tête de pipe funéraire possède une sculpture puissante qui provoque une vive émotion. L'aspect brut et élaboré de la créature représentée, entre en résonance avec les plus folles créations des grands surréalistes. Typique de l'art Tlingit, cet objet est emprunt d'un imparable pouvoir de séduction. Les lignes sont claires et se répondent avec beaucoup de force et de cohérence. Le caractère mortuaire de l'objet est transcendé par la délicate élégance de ses courbes. Cette très belle pipe cérémonielle présente une patine qui témoigne de nombreuses utilisations aux cours des âges. Elle est sculptée dans une ancienne crosse de fusil. État: Très belle patine. Excellent état pour une pièce très ancienne. Bois, cuivre. Longueur: 13 cm - Hauteur: 9,5 cm.
