Description:
Snuff box of coquia nut (corozo) in the shape of an elongated boat, the front ending in a figurehead with a bust wearing a (frigic?) cap, the rear with two balconies, the upper deck being formed by two flap lids, the front rather convex which makes the boat slightly look like a shoe shape, on this lid a man kneels in front of a woman, the back lid with a seated flute playing angel figure in an arc shape of flowers. |

Comments
| Brongers schrijft de doos aan Dieppe toe. Bijzonder stukje snijwerk vanwege de twee aaneengelaste noten met een doorlopend patroon. Voor de perfecte bootvorm zijn de amoureuze scènes op de beide deksels iets te volkskunstig. |

Bijschrift: Snuifdoos samengesteld uit twee coquillanoten, in de vorm van een schip met 48 kanonnen voor de geopende patrijspoorten. De romp is verdeeld in twee snuifcompartimenten waarvan de deksels in het midden scharnieren. Lengte 16 cm, grootste hoogte 5,2 cm. Franse of Duitse snijkunst, eind 18e en begin 19e eeuw. |
