Description:

Brass tobacco box with oval shape with flat bottom, straight sides and flat lid. Lid cast with embossed depiction of Abraham's sacrifice with Abraham standing on the left with raised sword, a floating angel holding the tip of the sword, on the right on a sort of sacrificial block a kneeling Isaac, Abraham's hand resting on his head, above it the text on the left "RA:" and on the right "SACRIFI: I", at the feet of Abraham on the left a smoking tripod with the letters "ZZ" and under the sacrificial block the letters "IS". The upright sides are pressed with a winding branch in relief, ending at both ends in a kind of fish head, with a phoenix, a bird and other animals in between. Box internally on the single-hinged hinge a cast conical brass pipe stopper.

Comments
Het opschrift "RA" staat voor Rex Abraham, de "I" voor Isaak, de initialen eroder refereren aan de maker "ZZ" vermoedelijk werkzaam in "IS" (= Iserlohn).
