Description:
Tobacco pipe from porcelain with stummel bowl, button heel and straight insert stem with five rings. Bowl front handpainted in multi-colours along the bowl opening under a roundgoing branch with orange apples in gold leaf "LUITENANT GENERAAL MEYER BEVELHEBBER DER 3E DIVISIE BRIGADE KOMMANDANTEN KOLONELS STOECKER EN SPRENGER" (Luitenant general Meyer commander of the 3rd division brigade commander colonel Stoecker and Sprenger), bowl front crossed laurel branch and oak branch with jugs of flags and a woman's branch with two flags of the top of the bust "HERINNERING AAN HET KAMP BY OIRSCHOT 24 AUGUSTUS 1832" (memory of the camp Oirschot 24 August 1832), the iron cross hangs at the ends of the laurel branches. Bowl reverse in black "G.A. TOORENBURGH SERGEANT MAJOOR", the heel in blue with the W of king Willem I. Moist trap with an oval shape at the bottom in a point with the Dutch flag on the left painted and the Orange flag with a crowned W on the right, in the center on a blue shield "13. AFDEELING INFANTERIE". Stem intaglio "F. & R.". Stem end blue underglaze stripe. |

| Betreft Gijsbert Abraham Toorenburgh, geboren 06-05-1806 te Amsterdam. Vgl. APM 22.147 vergelijkbaar object. In de tekst is het woord Komandanten zonder afkortingsstreepje erboven geschreven. Let ook op het verschil in interpretatie van de bladertakken. Afgebeeld in Hobbie, tijdschrift voor verzamelaars, "Tabakscuriosa IV", p 104. Sigarenmerk Caresco brengt c. 1965 een serie van 24 sigarenbanden met porseleinen pijpenkoppen, deze pijpenkop is er één van. |

Onder aan de lauwerkrans op de kop de militaire Willemsorde. De kop heeft blijkens opschrift aan de achterzijde toebehoort aan sergeant-majoor G.A. Toorenburgh. |
