Description:
| Tabakspijp van catlinite, zogenaamde calumet met hoge cilindrische ketel met haakse hoek op een cilindrische steel met doorgestoken eindstuk. Ketel en steel versierd met paarsgewijze concentrische ringen en drie onder de filt en om de steel. Recht houten roer met zes lange torderingen die met rode kleurstof zijn ingewreven, de beide einden cilindrisch en afgewerkt met messing kopnagels, steeleind aangevijld. |

| In de veilingcatalogus afgebeeld met een ander roer. Lar Hothem, Indian Pipes, Identification and Values, Kentucky, 1999, p 162. Identiek stuk, omschrijving: T-shape Plains type pipe, ca 1900, catlinite. This fine pipe is made with raised ring sets and has a good overall polish. This is a Crow Indian pipe, 4" high and 8" long. Plains region. E. Woods collection, California, $ 500.00. |
