Description:
Tobacco pipe made of meerschaum with figural bowl, without heel and up going stem with stub. Bowl hand carved two seated stream gods, left a man with moustache and long beard with his right arm leaning on a tub from which a river emerges, between the arm and the trunk an oar protrudes, to the right woman with vine leaves around her head, her left hand resting on a jug, between them in the base a standing coat of arms with double-headed eagle and imperial crown. Bowl rear right reed and left other plants. Stub stylized leaf motifs with c-volutes. Mounting with silver stubb plate with a conical stem holder. |

| De beugel van de kroon inmiddels verdwenen, is nog op de foto van Rapaport te zien. Pellissone & Emanuel, Pipe, I tabacchie .., z.jr. plate XII (na p 64). Identieke voorstelling maar dan op een pijp met barnstenen roer, klaarblijkelijk naar dezelfde ontwerptekening gesneden. Henk van der Hoef II bespreekt deze pijp in een televisieprogramma van 1957 en meldt dat de pijp door een Russische emigrant in 1932 is meegenomen. |
