Pipes by Pierre G. Müller

Our museum received a magnificent set of briar pipes from the estate of Pierre Müller - pieces he crafted himself over a period of more than twenty years. Each pipe features a unique design, inspired by the size and grain of the specific piece of briar wood used. Every pipe even bears a name that highlights its design, such as this English Trumpet. The work of this distinguished jeweller and pipe designer from Geneva deserves an article, which will appear on our website later this year. We extend our gratitude to his widow in Vienna, the city where Pierre spent his final years so happily. Thanks to her donation, the work of Pierre G. Müller will not be forgotten.

Highly motivated society from The Hague

The prospective members of the Hague-based student corporation La Pipe are incredibly enthusiastic. Every year, a delegation from this group - comprising students from the Hague Hotel School - visits our museum for a guided tour and an introduction to pipe smoking. Their mascot is a bent tobacco pipe, which is traditionally accompanied by a hefty gulp of fine genever.

Our new publisher

Today, we met our new publisher, Lecturis in Eindhoven - represented by Paul van Mameren. We got an inspiring tour of his impressive company, which is housed in a beautiful school building dating back to 1930. There, we discovered his extensive catalogue of titles, which includes many books on design alongside photography books. Paul will ensure that our new handbook is available in every bookstore across the Netherlands and Flanders - something we can never achieve on our own. We hope to keep up the momentum in the production of the new handbook now!
