Description :
Tobacco pipe made of clay with oval Gouda bowl, heel and straight stem. Bowl stroke burnished. Heel left side mark Gouda coat of arms. Stem centre of gravity ring with strokes bordered with "I: WOERLE" and "IN GOUDA". Pipe used as a commemorative object with texts on the bowl and stem in ink. Inscription on the bowl: "1748/1750 / de kist open geweest (the case was open) 7 Julij 1761 A: Fortman (Preesman), J: Luckemans / 1835". On the stem: "4 Meij 1764 de kist open geweest (the case opened) 11 Maart 1835 de kist weder geopend door (the case opened again by) P.J. Burgersdijk P.J. Broekhoff R. Jesse en C. Deeleman, grootkassiers, Heil zij de verdere lezers (cashiers, congratulations to the further readers), W.H. Gillissen 7 Februarij 1838 de kist weggedaan, de pijp verplaatst (the chest was disposed of, the pipe removed) D.N. Roskes, W.H.D. Suringar 30 maart 1844 de kist open geweest en de pijp verlegd (the case was opened and the pipe moved) A. van der Burch, A. Six, G. Aalbertsberg, W. Wolters, H.
