Description :
Tobacco pipe made of earthenware with tubular base on which standing oval bowl with figures on both sides. Stem smooth and shy striped ties ending in a folded bell with stone in it. Bowl both sides of the figure in high relief, on the side of the smoker a man on the knees with stylized tropical helmet and on the other end by a native woman with tattoos, the hair in a bun on the head. Bowl a separate lid on which a sitting monkey. |

Commentaire
| Uitgebeeld wordt een kanonsloop als symbool van de macht, de man is van de stam Fanti en draagt een militaire hoed die staat voor dapperheid, hij zit naast een forowa, een pot voor kostbaarheden. De decoratie is typisch Europees geïnspireerd. Arnold Wentholt schrijft deze pijp in 2001 toe aan Kongo in plaats van Ashanti dat Anthony Irving geloofde. |
